Your Western Slope Camper Van Builder

At White River Overland, we specialize in semi-custom van builds designed for mountain living and off-grid adventure. Every van is handcrafted with precision, tailored to your lifestyle, and built with premium materials that balance rugged capability with refined comfort. No two builds are alike, but they all share the same DNA: durable systems, smart storage, and a clean finish that feels like home.

Our Approach to Van Builds

  • A person reviewing van build blueprints on a work table with a calculator, a smartphone, and additional papers.

    Personalized Layout Design

Every van starts with your story. We design layouts around yourlifestyle and uses from ski storage to bike mounts to family-friendly sleeping setups.

  • A man kneeling inside a small space between kitchen cabinets, working with a toolbox or drawer, wearing a red and black plaid shirt, grey shorts, a baseball cap, and sunglasses on his head.

    Premium Craftsmanship

Hand built in our shop in Aspen, Colorado, our vans feature high-end cabinetry, paneling, and finishes from top suppliers. Attention to quality makes each space functional, durable, and beautiful.

  • Top view of a van with a roof-mounted solar panel system, parked in an empty parking lot with mountains and trees in the background.

    Van Power Solutions

Stay off-grid with solar panels, lithium batteries, and inverters from trusted brands like Victron, REDARC, and Battle Born. Reliable energy for life on the road.

  • Interior of a camper van showing control panels, including a digital thermostat, a fan control switch, and a digital voltage meter, mounted on wood-paneled walls near a seating area.

    Four-Season Capable

From diesel heaters and insulation to fans and ventilation, our vans are designed for Colorado winters and summer road trips alike.

  • Interior of a converted camper van at dusk with lighting, a hidden shower, seating, and kitchen area.

    Van Water & Plumbing

Custom tanks, efficient plumbing, and hidden showers keep you stocked and comfortable whether you’re cooking, cleaning, or rinsing off after the trail.

  • Camper Van Storage Cubbies

    Van Gear Solutions

We maximize every inch with smart storage systems, gear mounts, and hidden compartments so your van carries everything without feeling crowded.

Dream & Design

Every build starts with your story. We take the time to understand your goals, your gear, and how you want to use your van 90% of the time. We'll sketch concepts, talk through layouts, and make sure the design is built around your lifestyle — not ours.

Why it's different We're not pushing a template. Every layout is designed from scratch around how you actually adventure — whether that's chasing powder, biking trails, working remotely, or living full-time on the road.

Plan & Prepare

Next, we line up every detail before touching your van. We source high-quality components from our trusted brand partners, map out the systems and layout, and make sure every part of the build is ready to go. This keeps the process smooth and avoids costly surprises mid-build.

Why it's different Our planning phase is thorough because we treat your van like our own. No shortcuts, no guessing — just a clear roadmap that keeps you informed and your timeline on track.

Build & Craft

This is where your vision comes to life. From cabinetry and wiring to finishes and storage, every cut and connection is done by hand in our Aspen shop. We pride ourselves on precision and durability — creating rigs that can handle real mountain conditions for years to come.

Why it's different We're outdoor people who build rigs we'd use ourselves. That means your van isn't just pretty — it's functional, rugged, and engineered for the trails, mountains, and back roads you actually travel.

Test & Deliver

Before we hand you the keys, we test every system and feature to make sure your van is road-ready. Then we walk you through every detail — showing you how to use your new systems, and making sure you leave with complete confidence in your rig.

Why it's different You don't just get a van — you get peace of mind. Our 1-year warranty and ongoing after-build support means WRO is still your partner long after delivery day.

 CUSTOM VAN BUILD FAQs

  • We know you are excited to get on the road, but turning a van into a functional home on wheels that can withstand rugged roads takes time. It typically takes 12 to 16 weeksfor us to complete a full custom van conversion.

  • Lead times are based upon current workload and product procurement times. Expect it to take anywhere from 1-3 months (and sometimes longer) for us to get started on your project.  Please remember that we are a small business and, to ensure our customers’ projects get the full attention they deserve, we only work on one custom van at a time.

  • We offer a warranty of 1 year from delivery date. We are incredibly proud of our workmanship and only use premium materials, so our vans withstand the rigors of the van lifestyle. You can enjoy adventure instead of the headache of repairs.

  • We primarily focus on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis for full custom van conversions. However, we also do upgrades and other services on Ford Transit, RAM Promaster, Winnebago Revel, and Storyteller vans.

  • This is a hard question to answer because everyone has different needs. The cost really depends on the scope of the work. We always work closely with our customers to stay within budget while still getting everything you need for your van lifestyle. Give us a call and we’d be happy to provide you a specific quote for your project.

  • No, we can’t provide the van. However, we can help you select a van, guide you through purchase of your van, and even recommend some dealers in Colorado and Utah. We also sometimes have turnkey custom vans that you can buy from us. Check them out here.

Already Have a Van? We Upgrade & Remodel Too

If your van needs a refresh, we offer premium upgrades and full interior remodels to bring your vision to life. We work with any budget and can phase the work to fit your timing.
